The Evansville Regional Airport is 35 miles northeast of Union
County. The Nashville International Airport is 151 miles
southeast of the county. A local three 5,000 foot runway airport
is located in Union County at Sturgis.
Highway:
Major AAA-rated trucking highways serving Union County include
U.S. Highway 60, Kentucky 109, and a portion of Kentucky 56.
Access to the Edward Breathitt and Audubon Parkways, both
multi-lane highways is available 23 miles east of Union County
via U.S. 60. The Wendell H Ford Western Kentucky Parkway,
another multi-lane highway, is accessible 54 miles south of
Morganfield via U.S. 60 and U.S. 641. Access to Interstate 24 is
34 miles south of Sturgis via U.S. 60 and U.S. 641. Access to
Interstate 64 and I64 is 35 miles northeast of Morganfield via
U.S. 60 and U.S. 41. Twenty-two common carrier trucking
companies provide interstate service to Union County.
Waterway:
A riverport facility is located in Henderson 18 miles east of
Morganfield, and another riverport facility is located adjacent
of the Earle C. Clements Bridge at Old Shawneetown, Illinois.
Four coal loading facilities are located along Union County’s
bank on the Ohio River.
Public boat ramps are available on the Ohio River in Caseyville,
five miles west of Sturgis; at Blackburn two miles east of
Kentucky Highway 56; on the Tradewater River near Sturgis; and
near the Earle C. Clements Bridge near Uniontown connecting
Union County to Old Shawneetown, Illinois.
