The 5,420-acre
Higginson-Henry Wildlife Area, six miles southeast of
Morganfield, features 80-acre Lake Mauzy, small game
hunting, deer hunting, horseback riding trails, boat ramps
and picnic areas. A private sporting clays shooting range is
located nearly.
Moffitt Lake Recreation Area, a 128-acre park 12 miles
southeast of Morganfield, offers a 50-acre lake, a 300-foot
beach, 98 campsites and cabins with utility hook-ups, a boat
dock, a softball field, a pavilion, restrooms and fishing.
Jenny Hole-Timber Slough Wildlife Area, in northeastern
Union County, provides excellent waterfowl hunting. Deer
hunting is a major sporting activity in Union County.
Public boat ramps are available on the Ohio River in
Caseyville, five miles west of Sturgis; at Blackburn, two
miles east of Kentucky Highway 56; on the Tradewater River
near Sturgis; and near the Earle C. Clements Bridge in
Uniontown connecting Union County to Shawneetown, Illinois.
A variety of public recreational facilities are available in
Morganfield. Four tennis courts, a swimming pool, five
lighted softball fields, two baseball fields, a football
field, picnic and playground areas, and four shelter houses
are available at the city park. In addition, two mini-parks
include playground areas and basketball goals.
The YMCA, located in Morganfield, offers many excellent
programs, including aerobics, cardiovascular fitness, a
child enrichment center, and other activities for children.
Public recreation facilities at Uniontown include a
mini-park, a ball park, and a concessions building.
