Levee recertification work continues in Uniontown and Sturgis with core drilling's and testing of the materials. Due to a federal mandate from FEMA, floodwalls in the US Army Corp of Engineers jurisdiction must be re certified for the areas that are protected to remain outside of the flood designation. Union County’s Flood Protection Manager, Sean Sheffer, is spearheading the project on behalf of the County.During the next 18 months various equipment and workers will be visible on and around the levees. Geotech Engineering is the firm hired to work the county project.
